🧾 Add an expense
Paid for something the group shares? Add it in a few taps — everyone's balance updates instantly. Here's the whole flow, including receipt scanning and the three ways to split.
Tap the round + button
It's in the corner of the Overview, Expenses and Members tabs. First time? Tap “Show me around” on the add screen for an interactive walkthrough.
Name it and enter the amount
Type what it was and how much. Or skip the typing — scan the receipt and the total is read for you.
Set who paid
Defaults to you. Tap to change it if someone else fronted the money.
Choose the split and save
Equally between everyone, exact amounts per person, or item by item. Save — and every balance in the group updates on the spot.
Scan the receipt (OCR)
Tap the receipt tile on the add-expense screen, then snap a photo or upload one. The app reads the total off the receipt and fills it in — and picks up the line items too, so you can split by item without typing a thing. It handles rotated photos, and receipts with per-line VAT rates (common at pharmacies and grocery stores).
Always glance at the amount before saving — OCR is good, not psychic. The photo is attached to the expense so everyone can check the original.
The three ways to split
| Equally | The default. The amount is divided evenly between the people you tick. Untick anyone who wasn't part of it. |
|---|---|
| Exact amounts | Type each person's share yourself — for when the split isn't even and you already know the numbers. |
| By item | Split a receipt line by line — see below. |
Split by item
After scanning (or adding items by hand), tag each line to whoever had it: tap a person on an item and it's theirs. Sharing one? Tap several people. Someone had two beers? Tap them twice — shares can be weighted, and each person's portion shows as a fraction (“Erik 2/3”). Long-press to clear an item.
Items nobody claims can be marked shared by everyone — handy for the bread basket and the tip.
Multiple currencies Full plan
Each group has a base currency. On the Full plan you can log an expense in any other currency — pay in złoty on the Kraków trip, and it's converted to the group's currency automatically using European Central Bank rates. The original amount stays visible on the expense.
Date, category & location
Optionally set the date (for expenses you add after the fact), pick a category (transport, food, …) and tag where it happened — pick a spot on the map or use your current location. Tap a saved pin later to see it on the map.
Export to CSV
Need the numbers elsewhere? On the Expenses tab, tap Export to download the group's expenses as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets — dates, payers, amounts, categories and splits included.
How many expenses can I add?
The Free plan allows 5 expenses per day in groups you own. The Full plan has no limit. See plans.
